SUMMARY

Professor Gladys Jerobon Kiptiony is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) with a distinguished career in Education and Counselling Psychology. She possesses a formidable academic background, holding a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Egerton University, Kenya, a Master of Arts in Education from Lancaster University, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Education from Moi University, and a Certificate in Counselling from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Prof. Kiptiony's research interests primarily revolve around the socio-psychological dynamics affecting various facets of Kenyan society, mainly focusing on issues such as gender, especially factors contributing to the persistence of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), psychological problems, education, and factors affecting child growth and development. Throughout her illustrious career, Prof. Kiptiony has held numerous leadership positions at Kabarak University since 2002; she currently serves as the Director of the Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching and holds the title of Associate Professor of Counselling Psychology. Her extensive experience at Kabarak University encompasses various roles, including Dean of the School of Education and Director of the KABU Institute for Gender and Development Studies. She has also risen through faculty positions from Assistant lecturer and lecturer to senior lecturer. She has contributed to the university's academic development through internal master's and PhD supervision and exam coordination roles. She has been an active member of various university committees and steering groups, contributing significantly to academic and research endeavours. Prof. Kiptiony has held leadership roles in educational programs, including as Academic Leader for the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Education programs in Guidance and Counseling. Her involvement extends beyond academic leadership, as she has been a member of task forces and committees to enhance the university's online programs, research ethics, and procurement processes. Prof. Kiptiony has been actively engaged in conference planning and management, serving on sub-committees for research conferences and special events. Her dedication to academic quality assurance is evident through her participation in committees focused on intellectual property rights, educational quality, and student mentoring. Further, she has been a valued member of external associations, such as the Kenyan Guidance, Counselling & Psychological Association, The East African Higher Education Quality Assurance Network (EAQAN) and the Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network (KUQAN), thus contributing to the advancement of her field beyond the university setting. Throughout her tenure, Prof. Kiptiony has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in education and research, making valuable contributions to Kabarak University's academic community. In addition, she participated in the Internal Quality Audit Course on Quality Management Systems held at Kabarak University. Her significant contributions to Kabarak University's academic community testify to her exceptional abilities and enduring legacy in Education and Counselling Psychology. In addition to her remarkable achievements within the academic sphere, Professor Kiptiony's dedication to her family underscores her holistic approach to life, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a harmonious balance between work and home. She is the Wife of Prof. Henry Kiptiony Kiplangat and a mother of three children. Prof. Gladys Jerobon Kiptiony is a Christian raised in the African Inland Church and has served for three decades as a Sunday School Teacher and Director. Her passion for children's growth and development holistically has enabled her to spread her mentorship to Primary and Junior School Learners, mainly in Sun and Shield School, where she serves as the Director. She is very optimistic about the Competency-Based Curriculum and is intentional in helping teachers appreciate learner-centred approaches and the creation of child and teacher-friendly schools.
